East or West, Home is Best

There`s a proverb "East or West, Home is Best". In my opinion, it is right. I`d like to tell you about my home.

I live in a big and beautiful city, but quite far from the city centre. I live in a quiet neighbourhood/in a busy street in a modern block of flats. My flat is on the ........... floor, (so it`s got a great view of the city). It`s (not very) big. It`s got a modern kitchen, a large living room, a/two bedroom(s) and a bathroom. My favourite room is...... . It has got...................... . It has also got..................... .

Living in my area is very convenient: there is a post office, a chemist`s and a lot of shops such as a baker`s, a butcher`s,........................ and........................ . Life is interesting in my area. There are a lot of places where we can spend out free time: a modern cinema, a gym, a library and a park. There are also many places for eating out: a fast food restaurant, sushi restaurants and cafes.

I certainly can say: my home is my life. Here live my nearest and dearest. There is no place like home.

Household Chores

Everyone likes comfort, delicious food? clean rooms and tidy clothes. But to have all these we must work a lot. In my opinion, housework is boring, but there is a proverb: "Many hands make light work". So if every member of the family does his bit about the house then the housework isn`t too difficult or boring.

As for me, I have my own household chores as well as other members of my family. My chores include making the bed, ................ and ......................... . My Mum cooks dinner, ................... and............................ . My Dad takes out the rubbish, ................... and...................... . There`s one thing that all the members of my family do together. It`s shopping for food and clothes.

Today the housework is much easier thanks to modern appliances such as a vacuum cleaner, a washing machine, a dishwasher and others.

Saint Petersburg

Russia is a huge country and there are many beautiful and interesting places to visit.

Saint Petersburg has got many things to see and do for the whole family. The city’s Central Park of Leisure and Culture is famous for its attractions. It’s a great place to go to have fun. You can visit the Elaginoostrovsky Palace of wax figures. (You can go on exciting rides at the fun park.) In the summer you can hire boats and explore the park.(You can even take a steamship ride on the river.)In the winter many people go ice-skating at the park’s ski-centre (or sleigh down a steep snowy hill for fun).

 Saint Petersburg has something for everyone. If you like animals, you shouldn’t miss the Leningradsky Zoo with its 400 different types of animals. You can also visit the wonderful Durov Animal Theatre and see all sorts of animals perform. The Dolphinarium is also a must. If you have time, you should also check out the famous Puppet Theatre of Fairy Tales(where you can see old and modern plays).         You’ll love Saint Petersburg.
